Can this marriage be saved? Can we make a case for returning to our senses? Indeed we can, and the Catechism does. The Catechism of the Catholic Church marks the first time in history that the Magisterium has endorsed the fourfold sense. It invites us to return to a method that began with Our Lord Himself. As we saw in the last chapter, Jesus spiritually interpreted the Old Testament in light of His own coming. The apostles continued this technique, and so did the apostles’ successors.
